Portland Velo Rides and Events

Calling All Volunteers - By John Ohnstad

Spring and Summer mean lots of opportunities to plug into your club and the cycling community and volunteer your time for good causes. Here are the ones that Portland Velo needs your help with:

Ever thought about leading a ride?  Well, now is your chance.  We would like your help once a month to lead a ride for our Saturday Signature Series. Please contact Matt D'Elia for more information.

LIVESTRONG Challenge.  Portland Velo will be supporting this incredible event. Matt D'Elia will coordinate the Ride Marshals, Genny will be handling the rest stop, and Linda will coordinate our booth at the Livestrong Village.  Please contact them if you would like to volunteer. Save the dates of June 28-29th.

Bridge Pedal...Did I Say Bridge Pedal? Yep. Save August 10th.  We will all be able to contribute to this Portland tradition while raising money for our club. Details to follow.

Kudos: Finally, I want to thank some folks that have been integral to our Ride Operations Group. First is Mike Mulligan for putting together our first CPR/First Aid Course. We hope to have these Bi-Annually. Next is Matt D'Elia for his continued commitment in starting off our Saturday Rides and being the great Ride Leader Resource that he is. And our "Host with the Most" is Steve Brown from Madison's. Steve has opened his doors (literally) to our club for the New Year's Day Ride, Club Meetings, and for our CPR/First Aid Class, and has been incredibly helpful, thank you Steve!

About Carlo Delumpa

When Carlo is not on his bike, he is usually thinking about his bike - or biking, bike accessories, this web site and the cute chick that shares his tandem. Carlo is a native of the SF Bay Area, where the weather is warm and the climbs go on forever. He's slowly winning the NW rain game with other sports, like skiing and hockey. And the climbing in Portland can go on forever if you don't mind going downhill a few times in the opposite direction.

Carlo is a co-founder and director of this illustrious cycling club, and the lead designer of pretty much anything Velo you see out there (with the possible exception of the race team swag). It lets him get out his creative yah-yah's and now that he's got a new iMac, watch out - you may see Portland Velo logo tattoos in the not-so-distant future.

Ever-so-approachable, Carlo is always open to ideas, suggestions and even criticism if it means making this an even better community. You can reach him at carlo@portlandvelo.net. Please keep the criticism limited to 25 characters or less, please.
