FSA SL-K Crankset / BB removal

So I'm trying to pull my crankset and BB to clean out whatever gunk has gotten into the sleeve ( and just to take the thing apart on my own) and I'm running into a few issues.

    1.  I can't find a damn BB wrench anywhere.  I have a trio of lockring wrenchs which all say they work on BB cups, but none of them fit worth a damn.

    2.  Crank arms won't come off even after removing the bolts.

I'm sure I'm one special tool or missing step away, and unfortunately the wonderful book I have has no information regarding removal of this type of crank.

    Matt:

I have the same crank with the megaexo bottom bracket.

1.) Bought something similar to this at Performance to remove/install the BB cups: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=24423&subcategory_ID=4200. Ok, I went cheap and bought the Performance brand tool but it works fine.

2.) The left side / non-drive side crank arm screw is self-extracting. Leave the outer "nut" threaded in place and remove the screw. Crank arm should pop off.

Yo Matt, hope the following helps:

Tools needed- hex key, red spanner(Park tool spa-2), rubber mallet

    1. Remove the round lockring using the spanner, however do not try and remove the hex bolt first or you'll damage the crank

    2. Once the lockring is removed you can unscrew the main bolt using the hex key, then pull the non-drive side crank out with the washer

    3. If you're using the Mega-Exo bb use a rubber mallet to tap the axle and drive side crank out

This should take 5 maybe 10minutes but, just so you know, SLKs are notorious to work on so you're not alone with your dilemma.

Thanks Ed and KRhea.  It sounds like I've got everything I need to remove the crankset, it just wouldn't come off for some reason.

Ed, what do you mean by the outer nut?  I've seen a few posts online regarding to the same tactic you mentioned but I couldn't figure out what they were talking about.

    Matt:

I sent you an email with the install / remove instructions from FSA's website (nut is item 11.1 on the exploded assembly drawing).

If all else fails, buy one of these: http://www.milwaukeeconnect.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_27_40028_-1_684437_192206_192137.

    Cheers!

Got the crankset off last night.  The key was not to remove the stupid lock nut which requires a pin spanner to get off.  Now for the BB....
