I got hood winked into going camping on the Clackamas River this weekend. I will be taking a spin up the Clackamas either Sat. or Sun. morning. I am departing fairly early before the heat and weekend traffic deteriorate the experience. I am starting at Promontory Park and going east past Ripplebrook RS to an area called Two Rivers (where the Clackamas & Collowash rivers meet). It is about 48 miles round trip, with 4,899 ft. of climb (653 ft at start - 1,800 ft. at turn around, 23 miles so nice and gradual) with of course that same amount (in my favor!) for the return trip. I will be in "touring mode" 15-17 on this ride (maybe a tad faster, definately when coming back down) and I plan on stopping at sites as warranted and taking a short break at the Two Rivers to eat and put my feet in da' river!
