A Great Deal on First Aid and CPR Training!

    Hey folks-

John and Mike (Mulligan) have put together an an amazing 7-hour first aid and CPR program (http://portlandvelo.net/content/FirstAidandCPRClassNotice.aspx) for Portland Velo members. The date is Sunday, March 9 at Madison's Grill (in the ballroom) and participants will walk out certified in both CPR and First Aid.

This is not a mandatory training for our ride leaders, but I strongly encourage your participation as one more tool in your toolkit for overseeing and leading safe group rides. To that end, Portland Velo, along with Mike Mulligan and Lori Bocklund, will refund the first 20 registrants $20 (normal price is $60, first 20 registrants will have $20 refunded at the door). A 7-hour class dedicated to Velo and customized for cycling-related incidents is a bargain enough, when you consider that it includes breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day. $40 is a steal.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact John ASAP.

    Cheers-
    Carlo

Thank you for arranging the 1st Aid/CPR Class. I just registered. Motivated by just seeing a rider down on the Worst Day ride - slippery painted neighborhood speed bump near Tanasbrook. A nurse stopped and help arrived shortly. Head bump. He was laying calmly.

So, how many people are signed up now?

    On cycling safety:

When motorists die it is usually the result of collision with motorists. When cyclists die it is also usually the result of collision with motorists. The dangerous activity is driving a motorized vehicle.

To distinguish whether the victim was practicing the same dangerous activity as the perpetrator is nonsense.

I do not yet have a count of how many people have bought in.

For those who have paid via the PayPal button - We are aware that there is a payment transaction error, and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.  I will provide an update once new information is available.

The payment button has been fixed.

If you have paid, and received an 'Unclaimed" funds email from paypal - you will need to do the following:

Log in to your PayPal account, View & Cancel the Unclaimed transaction

Go back to the Portland Velo home page, and resubmit your payment.  If you have any questions or concerns about this, please post here or contact me at traci @ portlandvelo.net

You may not receive an "Unclaimed" funds email.  I didn't.  Log into paypal and check your account status, just in case.

I did not receive an "Unclaimed" funds email and had an Unclaimed charge too. Thanks for the heads up, Lynne.

I didn't realize my paypal transaction was "unclaimed" until I read this.  I will cancel & re-submit it now.  Originally I signed up on Feb. 11, so will I not get the discount deal?
