    Monster Cookie Metric Century

Who's up for eating cookies -- after a 62-mile ride? I'm looking for club members to do the ride with, in the 15-17 mph range. It's supposed to be a relatively flat and scenic ride through the Willamette Valley, from Salem to Champoeg Park and back. Could be a good first-long-ride-of-the-season for many. This was a fun ride last year, so I may be planning to do it again this year.  The weather on April 27 is anybody's guess at this point - but with such a flat route, it doesn't really matter.  More than likely I will do this one again.

I'll probably be doing a "double cookie" same as last year - the route's flat enough that it can easily be done before 4 PM, and last year I managed to hit each rest stop twice before they closed - -lots and lots of cookies that way!!!

Tom Hafner & I are in. We discussed it on Saturday and were looking for other club members.  Looks like we could have a nice group to ride. Hey Martin, the Clydesdales are in.

We can lead out the pack nice and strong, and then drop them on the downhills!

If the weather is nice, Carol and I will do the 'Cookie. If it is cold and raining I'll do Estacada3. Ride hard for about an hour, change to dry clothes and go home.

Same plan week before. If it is nice, do the Cherry Blossom in The Dalles. If it is nasty, Estacada2.

I plan to do Estacada1 regardless of weather.

There seem to be two separate discussions on the forum re the MCR, which is fine, just be aware there are two distinct threads.

Anyway, this will be my first event ride of any kind. What's the tradition for hooking up with Velo members at MCR? Does everyone just show up and assume they'll recognize each other, or at least the jerseys? Do Velo members tend to gather in the same spot each year? Do we break up into different speed groups like we do on a Saturday ride?

One thread is the race team's - the other is for those of us who plan to take more than 2 hours to finish the 62.5 miles :-)

Thanks for mentioning that. The "double cookie" sounds like a plan assuming that the wind cooperates!
