    Beaverton to Champoeg

Does anyone have a good route that they would suggest for getting from Beaverton (185th and TV Highway) to Champoeg Park in St Paul and back.  I rode there when I was 16 with some friends but I can't remember how we got there.  Thank you.

    Hi Pat,

I don't know if this is the preferred way but it's how I go as I don't mind riding higher traffic roads with bike lanes: Murray, Scholls, Roy Rogers, Hwy 99 to Newberg, St Paul Hwy to Champoeg Rd. Total of 25.6 miles from 185th & TV Hwy, 1,346 total ft. of climb, with a max elevation of less than 500 ft. If you're up for more of a climb on rural no shoulder roads, stay on Scholls to Hwy 219 into Newberg, about an 1,100 ft climb over 5 miles.

I like to go around the other way...

Hwy 219 through Scholls into Newberg used to be a nice ride, back in the early 90's, but it is too heavily trafficked for my taste now.

Pick up 219 in Newberg again, heading south, cross over the Willamette, and turn left onto Champoeg Rd.

Thank you Lynne and Chris.  Both of these suggestions are very helpful.  I think as a kid I went the route similiar to what Lynne outlines and on the way back we went on Hwy 99 like Chris suggests.  My family and a couple of other families are going to be staying at Champoeg for a couple of days so I thought I would ride out the first day and ride back the last.

I rode halfway there yesterday to sort of preview the route.  Part of the route included River Rd which was a bad idea.  Here is the route I will go with:
Famington (dont stay on this too long)
    Left on Clark Hill Rd
    R on Schools Ferry 210
    L on Schools Ferry 210
Straight on Hillsboro Hwy 219 (5 miles up)
-------Then I turned around because its about four miles downhill that I didnt want to go back up.
    Straight on N College
    L on E 4th St
    Straight on Wynooski St
R on NE St Paul Hwy 219
    L on Champoeg Rd NE
