    Rose Bowl question...

Yo, Duck fans, who won the game?  Oh yeah, that team from Ohio who couldn't win because Prior was their "only" player...

OK, where are those smack talkin' Duck "quackers" now!!!!!!!!!!  I couldn't find the original post concerning the game but if I remember correctly I was the only Buckeye fan in the thread.

I must say, it was a pleasure watching my boys spank the ugliest uniforms in college football.

Happy New Year all you Duck fans, what a way to start/end a year!!!!!

Ohio State Buckeyes, 2010 Rose Bowl Champions, man that has a nice ring to it...

Not hardly Matt, Ty is in "a league of his own" dude.  My comments are an inside joke between a bunch of us that you're not aware of.  You see, today was the first college football game I've watched in probably 10yrs or more and the only 2 players I knew by name on either team was Prior for Ohio State and "the guy who threw the punch" for the Ducks.

But hey, when an Oregon team plays my "home town" team I have to watch and act like I know something about college football, which I really don't, so I join the smack talk.

Hopefully it'll be another 10yrs before I have to set through another game.

    Hey Mark,

That jersey you were wearing today sure was ugly....I think it slowed you down by a good 1 - 2 mph  :P

Ugh. I'm not a bitter Duck fan, just disappointed that the team didn't play better & that obviously Ohio State played better than many people expected.  It was a fairly good game, but the Ducks were not the same team that played in the Civil War & against USC.

But.. I have to say - the Ducks do NOT have the ugliest uniforms in college football.  They have so many combinations, how can they be ugly??  Ohio State has only 2 - one for home, one for away. And their band uniforms look like the Coast Guard or something. And what was the deal with their cheerleaders?  Those have to be the ugliest outfits I've ever seen.

As for Terrelle Pryor, it's really too bad he chose to live in Ohio - maybe if he had visited Eugene & seen the UO campus, Autzen Stadium, the Moshovsky Center & the Casanova Center, things might have been different.

i will say that you probably have a better QB(Masoli), and I'm serious. Masoli played much better all year long. What you don't have is a defensive coach that knows how to make adjustments. I heard alot of people say that Pryor had the best game of his career. Well, yeah, that usually happens when you let the QB sit back and pick you apart. As you recall, I picked tOSU to beat the dcuks for various reasons, I just didn't think that Aliotta would make it so easy for Pryor to do so. I love watching the Ducks and Beavs play, each team scores a lot of points, but to make it to the 'big game' you better bring a defense with you. Now off to see my Crimson Tide in Pasadena....

They don't call him "Allowalotti" for nothing :D

I sooooo wish they would have Aloitti step down and bring in Justin Wilcox from Boise State....he's an Oregon alum and a very, very good defensive coordinator. With him as their DC they might actually have a shot at a NC game in the next couple of years. With Aliotti the best the Ducks can look forward to is the Rose Bowl.

    Re: Rose Bowl question...

So much for the strength of the pac-10 this year...

I have never been a Duck fan, but did tip them to win this year.   That was when I thought the Pac-10 was the toughest conference.  Never have I been so happy to be wrong.   There is just something about UO that rubs me the wrong way, kind of like wheelsucking sprinters.   Yep, that is it, the Ducks are a bunch of flashy sprinters and OSU played TT football and made them suffer.  The stats from the game do not lie.

And before "duck fan" claims the ducks played their worst game of the year, the refs had it in for them, or if only Blount had not fumbled, remember that all of the above can be attributed to playing under constant pressure from the OSU D for 60, er, 19 minutes.

    Re: Rose Bowl question...

So I don't watch much football either, nor am I native to Oregon (sadly to say 'cus I love it here), but what is up with the Oregon college football team names? Ducks and Beavers?  Isn't football supposed to be a hard hitting sport with team names like Bulldogs, Trojans, and Grizzlies? Names that put the fear into their opponents? Come on Georgia Tech is the Yellow Jackets, not the bumble bee's!

Sorry just throwing in my 2cents.

If your a fan of the Ducks and Beavers does that make you a platapus?

    Re: Rose Bowl question...

I realize it's tough for people new to Oregon to support teams with mascots like Ducks and Beavers, but you get used to it. I think there are a LOT of much worse mascot names out there in college football land.  It's not the name, or the uniform, it's what school is represented and their entire football program from the coaches to the facilities that really counts when they get on the field.

While the Rose Bowl was disappointing to watch, I'm still proud of the Ducks for their 10-3 season.  Generally I am good-natured about the smacktalk, but can we move on now?
