10/10/15 - 9:00 am Roll-Out

Carpenter Creek

(40.7 miles,  1,183 feet)

This route has a nice mix of flat riding, hills and rollers.  We head out the Churches to Verboort.  Then we traverse OR 47 to Thatcher and past the dog park (restrooms/water).  We immediately take a nice diversion up and down Watercrest and then into Forest Grove via Gales Creek. We ride out Ritchey for some climbing on Carpenter Creek and Plumlee.  Then we head back over OR 47 and up the Fernhill freeway - taking Geiger and Lafollette towards Cornelius.  Then it's back via Hornecker and Evergreen.  The forecast for this Saturday predicts cloudy to scattered rain with ride temperatures in the low-to-mid 60's:  fall weather and time to think about fenders.

Portland Velo was founded in February 2006 by a bunch of folks (35 of us, actually) who simply enjoyed riding bikes together. Since then we've grown to over 400 members. Our philosophy is "It's All About The Ride" - join us for a ride and find out why we continue to be Oregon's premier cycling club.
