1/24/15 - 10:00 am:   The route this week is OLD 47 - VERBOORT - GASTON (43.6 miles, 1,174 feet of elevation gain).  The route heads through Forest Grove, Gaston and Cornelius before heading home.  We take Evergreen west to Hornecker, across Wren and through Verboort.  From Verboort we take Porter into Forest Grove - then heading towards Gaston on Ritchey & Stringtown.  We follow Dilley to Old 47 past the Scoggins Valley store (restrooms/water) to Gaston.  From there its up Spring Hill to Fern Hill eventually riding through Cornelius and back home via Long -  Susbauer - Hornecker. The forecast for this Saturday looks to be partly cloudy with ride temperatures in the mid 50's - could be a spring-like day in January.

ALERT - SPEED GROUP CHANGE: The 21 mph speed group will now be known as “20-23 mph.”  This update makes the speed designation consistent with other PV speed groups, with the lowest target range equal to the highest MPH of the next group down.  The other change is the determination of a top speed, which is also consistent with other groups.  Defining the range provides a target for riders moving up from the 18-20's.  It should also encourage riders who want to ride in the mid-to-upper 20's to join with the OPENS

Portland Velo was founded in February 2006 by a bunch of folks (35 of us, actually) who simply enjoyed riding bikes together. Since then we've grown to over 400 members. Our philosophy is "It's All About The Ride" - join us for a ride and find out why we continue to be Oregon's premier cycling club.
