5/30/15 - 9:00 am: Pumpkin Ridge - Clapshaw (43.8 miles  1,604 feet of climbing):

This week we head up into the Helvetia and Pumpkin Ridge areas again - and then out to Clapshaw-Hillside.  So, lots of climbing in the first 15 miles, 10 miles of flat leading to a climb up Clapshaw, a great descent down Hillside and then pushing the big rollers.  We end with a nice chunk of flat to relax heading home.  The route heads north over OR 26 via Helvetia to Jackson Quarry and Pumpkin Ridge.  Then it's back over OR 26 to Harrington and Greenville - before heading up Clapshaw to Hillside.  Enjoy the descent and then attack the rollers - what some consider the hardest part of this route.  Following the last climb on Thatcher, it's now down Purdin and flat running back to LaCie - other than the Hornecker Sprint - have fun but be safe. At this time Saturday is predicted to be mostly clear during the ride with temperatures in the mid 60's to low 70's!  Great cycling weather predicted again.

Portland Velo was founded in February 2006 by a bunch of folks (35 of us, actually) who simply enjoyed riding bikes together. Since then we've grown to over 400 members. Our philosophy is "It's All About The Ride" - join us for a ride and find out why we continue to be Oregon's premier cycling club.
