8/1/15 - 8:00 am Roll-Out

Churches - Dairy Creek (43.0 miles,  1,243 feet)

NOTICE:  Due to the continued possibilities of high mid-day temps this Saturday, we will be starting the ride at 8:00am.

This weeks route is a fairly simple loop with an out-and-back up Dairy Creek.  Restroom and water stops are limited - so be aware.  We head west on Evergreen and then up and across the Churches - taking a right turn onto Kerkman.  We then follow Dersham across OR 26 to Mountaindale where we pick up Dairy Creek for an out-and-back: making a U-turn at the Fern Flat intersection.  Dairy Creek is a steady and gentle climb for approximately 7.5 miles.  Be conscious of the need to travel single file much of the way. We return through N. Plains, ride out Shadybrook and head home on Jackson School at the pallet factory - and then back across OR 26.  Be sensitive to the left turn across traffic, onto Meek, from Jackson School - cars are moving fast.

The forecast for Saturday looks to be moderating from the late week 100 degree temps.  Saturday is predicted to be clear, with ride temperatures reaching the high-80's to low-90's by early afternoon.

Portland Velo was founded in February 2006 by a bunch of folks (35 of us, actually) who simply enjoyed riding bikes together. Since then we've grown to over 400 members. Our philosophy is "It's All About The Ride" - join us for a ride and find out why we continue to be Oregon's premier cycling club.
