11/29/14 - The route this week is HOLLY HILL REVERSE (42.6 miles, 1,876 feet of elevation gain).  The route is largely flat with one climb - Holly Hill.  We get 23 miles of flat to warm up - climb Holly Hill - and head home on another 15 miles of flat.  We head out via 229/231st, pass Century High, out Rood Bridge and through Scholls.  Then we head across Vanderschuere and McCormick Hill to the Laurel Store.  Then it's up Holly Hill - or not.  If you're feeling lazy after all that turkey and pie you can just skip it and head home via Campbell.  Or climb it and burn off all those extra calories.  After the climb we go past the store and out Campbell to OR 219. Then it's onto Farmington - Burkhalter - Minter Bridge to Brookwood and Airport Rds - finishing how we started - on 229.  The Forecast for this Saturday predicts light rain with ride temperature hovering right around 40.  The Rx for the day is rain bikes and fenders.

Portland Velo was founded in February 2006 by a bunch of folks (35 of us, actually) who simply enjoyed riding bikes together. Since then we've grown to over 400 members. Our philosophy is "It's All About The Ride" - join us for a ride and find out why we continue to be Oregon's premier cycling club.
