I have been riding bikes for the past 15 years or so off and on. My first bike as an adult was a cheap mountain bike, which got me hooked on riding again. I rode mountain bikes for 7 years before moving to Oregon from Oklahoma (where I went to school). During that time I also picked up a cheap road bike for the fun of it, but mostly stuck to off road riding.
After a few years of riding, I got into racing...winning the Oklahoma state XC series Clydesdale class in 1997 and finished 5th overall in Sport class in 1998.
In 2000 my wife and I moved to Oregon where I actually rode much less even with the better cycling community.
In 2005 I decided I was fat and out of shape and needed to start riding again so I saved up and purchased a custom Curtlo road bike...something I had coveted for years. The first summer I had it I dropped about 20 pounds, then winter hit and I stopped riding putting that weight back on and more. Then last year I started riding seriously again putting in a lot of miles and dropped 63 pounds. It was at this point that I decided to start racing again this year...though it will be my first time to race on the road.
I am mostly concentrating on Time Trials, a few mountain bike races and plan on competing in some mass start road races this year.
I recently purchased a Cyclocross bike and plan on racing the cross season this fall, as well as using it for the PIR Short Track XC series this summer.
